Jada McCovey
Community Organizing Manager
He:yung, my name is Jada McCovey, I am Hupa, Yurok, and Karuk from the Klamath-Trinity region of Northern California. I come from generations of cultural fire practitioners, and believe in the responsibility to utilize good fire as an inherent part of traditional knowledge frameworks. As a young person, I intend to advocate for resource protection and policy changes that serve the integrity of Tribal people now and long after.
I am a graduate from the University of California Davis where I studied Native American studies and environmental studies. In my undergrad I spent time leading and organizing avenues of health and wellness for Indigenous students through a cultural lens. As the Community Organizing Manager here at FireGen I am looking forward to working with knowledge holders and fire practitioners to move toward shared goals to continue those priorities of community wellness through fire work.
In my free time, I am spending time with my family, working out, creating jewelry, or just soaking in the world outdoors.
