Resident of Karuk aboriginal territory in Orleans, CA
Ayukii! I’m from the Karuk, Hupa and Yurok tribes in Northern California. I’m an Indigenous Fire Practitioner, traditional dipnet fisherman and former wildland firefighter, while staying strongly connected to cultural practices and our land-based, Pikyavish (World Renewal) ceremonies as a Karuk Medicine person. I have a BS in Environmental Studies from University of Oregon, and Master of Forestry from UC Berkeley. Living in my ancestral homelands and where I grew up, I prioritize my inherent responsibility to enhance and maintain our lands for future generations. I hope to continuously center and elevate Indigenous Science and knowledge into fire policy and ecosystem management paradigms.
In my free time I play sports, hunt, fish, spend time with family and friends, and find myself in my yard working in my garden or any other DIY projects.
